I started a new mask pattern (a tiger headdress mask) but I want to do another Halloween mask before the end of October. I’d love to hear your ideas for the mask you’d like me to make next. Silly? Weird? Creepy? Something else entirely?
Give me your ideas in the comments below, and I’ll pick the one that would be the most fun for me to make.
And please give me some ideas for my silly animal caricature sculptures, too. Animals and people are quite often very much alike – so what kind of people would pair up well with your favorite animals? Or what character do they look like, from a famous book or classic movie? ๐
I can’t wait to see what ideas you think up!
Even though I won’t be able to do them all, the ideas themselves will be a lot of fun. And if you see one that I don’t have time for, be sure to do it yourself – and then show it off on the Daily Sculptors page.
How about a black cat? A cartoon version that is all green eyes and hair standing on end? The type that looks like it has had an electric shock, lol!
That would be fun! Thanks, Mary.
Hi Jonni,
I would really love to see you make a “Wicked Witch of the West” mask, worts and long nose included.
Thanks,
Jennie
Hi Jennie. I made one a few years ago, basically a portrait of Margaret Hamilton in her makeup. No warts, for some reason, and a big (but not long) nose. You can see it here. I think warts and long nose would be more fun, so I’ll put your suggestion on my list. Thanks! ๐
Or an axolotl. They have happy smiling faces and weird fringed corona.
Of a jellyfish.
Great ideas! Thanks. ๐
How about a harpy eagle? They’re so big they already look like a human wearing a costume.
Yes, of course. How do I send a picture>?
A Skeleton ! That would be great !
Thanks, Karen! ๐
Tracy beat me to it! I was thinking a mask that is obviously a pumpkin but wit a silly face of a human.
That does sound fun. For some reason an image just popped into my head of a guy riding a horse and his head is a pumpkin – is that from an old story? Maybe I’m thinking of the headless horseman and added the pumpkin?
The legend of Sleepy Hollow! I seem to remember a childrenโs book that used a pumpkin on the headless horseman….maybe it was less scary for children? Could that be what you envisioned?
Maybe – but now I think it was actually part of a silly British mystery tv show. Can’t remember which one… ๐
How about silly and scary jack o lantern faces
I love it, Tracy. Thanks for the idea! ๐
