I do not have a picture yet I am only half way done putting the clay on. I just had to stop and say this.i made the clay now 3 times. The first time it was super wet but I was still able to work with it and made a few fairy houses. Gave them away and forgot to get photos. The next batch I made the only thing I could do with it was make a paper weight. Still waiting for it to dry all the way. Now this third batch I made OMG it came out perfectly. It is so smooth and rolls out paper thin. I put some on my shape late last night to see how it was going to dry. I tried to pull that part back off to see how well it will stick. It dried 85% and still could not pull it off. I am so happy with this batch. I have been adding to the piece and with hardly any working it, it is seamless. I will post this when finished with the clay. Don’t think I can wait to show after the painting.
Me, too — can’t wait to see it. I’ll just say that I worked a year making clay like you described. Once the scientist came out in me (rare), I began measuring. While every batch isn’t exactly perfect, like you described, I get pretty darn close most of the time.
I would love to see the fairy houses. If you make another, please let us see. My sister wants some really badly, but I’m not brave enough yet. Thanks, and good luck.
Hi Lyle. Did you use the Paper mache clay recipe, or the Silky-Smooth Air dry clay recipe? Both of those links go to the versions that have gram measurements. That way of measuring the ingredients really helps to make sure they come out the same every time. I’m glad you finally got it to work the way you wanted it to, and I can’t wait to see how your pumpkin turns out. 🙂
