Made by Isis Vandelannote
This giraffe is part of a larger “Africa” decoration project that I wanted to do. She/he’s about 63 inches tall, which makes her/him a premature baby-giraffe. 🙂 The head is very similar to Jonni’s giraffe head. I did not use the pattern, but it certainly was my go-to inspiration source. It’s called Wabi-Sabi because it has a hundred little faults in it (ears are not a 100% correctly placed, the head is not shaped a 100% correctly…), but like the Japanese art-ideology “Wabi-Sabi”, it’s the imperfections that makes it perfect, right? At least it puts my mind at ease. After taking a closer look at photographs, it turns out that the combination of patterns and the color of the spots makes it something between a rothschild giraffe and a reticulated giraffe. It’s not supposed to stay outside, but the grass makes it look like a more “natural” habitat. Enjoy!

Imperfections??? Really where, I didnt notice any at all. I LOVE IT!!! I want to make one and other things. I been following you for years and just love your stuff. You do such a fanastic job. I have never done it before. It sure looks like fun though! Great job Isis, I just love her.
Your Wabi-Sabi giraffe is perfect! I love it. And yes, what we might call imperfections are what make it so interesting and enjoyable!
What a great job! So cute. The eyes are great and I did not notice flaws only how adorable it is. Super work!
I’m almost finished my giraffe from Joni’s pattern. Waiting on the paints to arrive. Your giraffe is beautiful.
Thanks Vicki. Good luck with your giraffe. I’m sure it will turn out beautifully! I love the shapes of Joni’s pattern (But I was being stubborn and really wanted to give it a try myself without pattern – can’t help it)
Oh-he/she is fabulous! What a great paint job and the sculpt is perfect!
Thanks Eileen! I was actually very nervous to start painting her (yes we have decided that it’s a her 🙂 ), because I have not done many paint jobs before, and did not want to ruin her. But it turned out nice. 🙂
I love this giraffe, in the grass and all. The “imperfections” are what we do, and it’s cute without any excuses. I love your creations.
Thanks Rex!
