I am an absolute novice, never made any paper Mache ever before. I needed to make Simba mask for my son in a musical. I used the paper mache clay by weight recipe. It came out far too rough to paint on, so I used the dry wall compound to smooth it and it worked brilliantly. I’m happy with the result as I was a first timer. The website was so informative, and I followed the directions closely. The mask was probably slightly too heavy for a stage item, but my son didn’t mind, just after 3 full shows he was in a hurry to get it off. My friend did the painting as you can see in some photos its very bright, but under the stage lighting it was actually perfect.
