In March 2026, I posted about a sculpture I was making for a parade. Look at that post for more details on the beginning stages. The inspiration was a wooden carving my late husband made. Now that he’s finished and the parade is over, here is my update.
The sculpture was made from PVC pipe, plastic bags, chicken wire and papercrete. I’m so glad I found Joni’s recipe for papercrete! With two layers of concrete sealer and two layers of oil based paint, hopefully he will be weather hardy. I had so much fun figuring out how to do this. Took me about 7 months, working off and on, and letting him dry out really good.
We secured him really good to the trailer bed and he didn’t fall off! We all had a good time, and I think he did too!
Now that the parade is over, he’s going to live on my back deck. He keeps me company when I have tea in the morning.
Thank you so much for letting us see how he turned out – he looks great! And I’m so glad he has a place to live, now that the parade is over. 🙂
