Hi there,
I started making paper mache animal heads because I developed cataracts and my painting abilities diminished. It’s been a god send, as not only do I continue to have a creative outlet, but they have been selling fast and also help me recycle rubbish that would otherwise end up in landfill.
I use old cardboard, egg cartons and bubblewrap to create the armature, cover it in masking tape, then apply the layers are newspaper strips using the PVA glue solution.
Once dried I prime, then paint up using acrylic paint.

These are fantastic! As a fellow artist-please see if you can have surgery for your cataracts! It’s quick & painless. My mom & several other relatives have had it done & can now read books again. 🙂
