Made by Mary Bartrop
I’m creating a display for a book artists show.
I don’t have a particular theme for my books, since
I tend to “go down the rabbit hole,” exploring methods of book binding, this co has become my theme.
I constructed the rabbit from styrofoam and he’s diving down a tomato cage rabbit hole. The books will be placed on shelves around the structure. The ears won’t go on till he’s closer to completion. I’m having butterflies as I get ready to cover him with the paper mache……

This is such an inventive piece?
Is this carved from styrofoam? If so, what kind? There’s the Extruded Poly Styrene and I think another type…
I’d love to see the finished sculpture too!
I’d love to see it, too! I hope Mary sees your comment – it might encourage her to let us see how her rabbit turned out. 🙂
What an interesting idea for a sculpture! I hope we can see it when it’s done, too. 🙂
