This is a mixed media project . The pitcher is paper mache and the kitty is needle felted wool . The pitcher was made by forming two paper mache bowls ( using a mixing bowl for a mold ) and then gluing them together to form a sphere . Using cardboard the sphere was modified to have the shape of a pitcher . The handle is made from a bent knitting needle that is covered with paper mache . The kitty is pure wool roving , needle felted into a cat …… the plastic eyes were purchased online ( I have hundreds of them ). It was painted with both acrylic and dimensional paint …..then varnished with a few coats of modpodge matte followed by a finishing coat of high gloss polyurethane .
Jon, when I first saw the photo, I thought a real kitten was in your paper mache pitcher! If it was in my house, I wouldn’t be able to stop talking to the nice kitty every time I walked by. What a great piece of art – thank you so much for sharing it with us. 🙂
