UK Lockdown sculpting saved my sanity

Made by Helen Cassidy

I have been in lockdown here in the UK since the middle of March and although I am usually a 2d artist I needed a new challenge to occupy me during this pandemic. I discovered you Jonni and set out on a voyage of discovery and creation. I started with your instructions with the pig and my ambition flourished into a full blown infatuation and developed my mini sculptures using bottles, plastic cartons, cardboard, (to save it all going to recycling and landfill). Other animals presented themselves, then came the circus theme and I couldn’t stop but I thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me such joy in their creation.

  1. Wow Helen,

You have certainly made the most of your time on lock down. What a great collection!! The rabbit is great! The circus theme is fun and what a great cast of characters. Well done!!

  2. Oh my goodness ,what a collection of fanciful characters! Really fun and imaginative! Now you need a stage to present the wonderful characters!
This pandemic has encouraged quite a few art activities with all of us! Personally, besides sculpting, I’ve discovered zen tangle art and paper quilling. It all keeps me sane!

  3. Wow! You have been busy. I especially like the cats and the circus themed pieces. Great detail on the masks too.
