The Last Unicorn

Made by Lori Paige

Hi. I am a US Army Veteran and I work with other Veterans using art to help with PTSD. I have always loved working with papermache and while searching found your site. 2 yrs ago this month I started a Veteran Art Night.

If I didn’t know how to do something, I’d learn how to do it to teach them how to be able to do that technique. Well, once I found your site I bought 5 masks and started learning as I had never made one but so wanted to learn and teach someone.

So we are making totem masks about protecting ourselves and our families. They have enjoyed it so much one of the guys has purchased masks and they are doing them as a family art Night.

I did the unicorn as my 1st one and donated her to a Daughters of the American Revolution Chapter to raffle off for a fundraiser for a Literacy Project for the state of New Hampshire.

So I based it off the book The Last Unicorn by Peter Beagle. Your patterns are amazing I would love to know how you are able to make them. I am so hooked. You make it so easy to follow in your videos to follow you and your instructions. Thank you so much. The project that I was able to pass to my veterans thanks to your web site has been amazing and I am encouraging them to posts their pictures when they are done for you to see.

  1. Thanks for showing us your unicorn, Lori – and for telling us about your work with the veterans. That’s a great testament for the healing benefits of art. By the way, your unicorn mask is really nice – and that mane is great! How did you do that? 🙂
