Silly Snake for garden

Made by Rhonda W

Well, he’s not paper mache, but inspired by Jonni and all the cool sculptures found here. I made him goofy because so many people are afraid of snakes, and I wanted to make people smile when they saw him. He is carved styrofoam, wrapped in mesh, then covered with several layers of Thinset. He sports three different sizes of glass tiles, a few glass seed beads (also used for his nostrils) and my first attempt at painting glass eyes. The Thinset did affect the black paint though, so next time I need to remember to put clear coat over the paint. All the materials used for my Silly snake should hold up to outdoor living.
