This pig mask is easy to make, with just four cereal boxes and a layer of paper mache.
No sculpting experience is required – the downloadable pattern creates all the shapes for you. You decide how to paint it, and whether or not it has spots. Your finished mask will be a one-of-a-kind work of art.
And when it’s done, you can proudly say “I made it myself!” 🙂
How to Make Your Pig Mask:
Print the pattern, glue the pages to cereal box cardboard, and cut out the pieces.
Tape the pieces together, following the instructions that are included with the downloadable pattern.
Add a layer of paper mache, using the paper and paste of your choice
Bring your new mask to life with acrylic paint and your own imagination.
Finished size –
About 11 inches (27.94 cm) deep , 13.5 inches (34.29 cm) wide and 8 inches (20.32 cm) high, including the ears.
It will fit an adult head, but the size can be changed by printing the pattern larger or smaller, or by following the instructions on page 16 of the downloadable PDF pattern.

How to tape the pieces together:
This mask pattern doesn’t have many pieces, and it’s easy to tape them together. Watch the video below to see how to create your mask, using four cereal boxes and the downloadable pattern.
Finishing your pig mask with optional foil details, a layer of paper mache, and paint:
Pigs come in a lot of colors, and some have spots. I chose to paint my mask grey with black spots and a pink nose. Be sure to search for pig photos on the Internet, and choose your favorite pig for your model.
To make your pig mask you will need:
- The Pattern
- Access to a Printer
- Copy paper or full-sheet labels (I always use the labels, because it’s an easy way to stick the pattern to the cardboard)
- Glue stick if using copy paper instead of the labels
- Cardboard from 4 standard-sized cereal boxes or 8 letter-sized sheets of light chipboard.*
- Sharp scissors for cutting cereal box cardboard.
- Clear plastic tape and masking tape Note: Don’t use disappearing gift wrap tape – it isn’t strong enough.
- Aluminum foil (optional)
- Glue gun
- Paper strips and paste (Find recipes here)
- Acrylic paint and varnish
- Shoelaces or elastic straps to hold the mask in place (optional)
