I enjoyed making this mask from your detailed instructional video and written how-to steps. Brava !
I chose not to use cereal boxes and peel and stick labels. I wanted to be able to create a more accurate bend, so I went to the Dollar store and bought white poster board and was able to load it into my inkjet printer and print directly onto that – easy.
While not quite as thick as a cereal box, it worked perfectly. After cutting the pieces out (and before assembly) I took a very small round tip stylus and scored all the dot & dashed lines, that made it easy to bend and the paper kept the shape.
Lots of patience and time to tape it all and the video as backup whenever I got stuck – a godsend !!
Used your homemade water flour mixture and the pliable Amazon brown packing paper. Once dry, I layered using acrylic paints, paint pens and Derwent color pencils to create a sketchy expressive look.
To add interest on the back of the mask, that I sponged with complimentary orange brown colors, I used pigment ink and stamped Halloween-themed words !
To finish off, the decorated witch hat was the final touch.
So much fun and I got so many compliments at the party.

This is a spectacular mask! I loved hearing all about the processes she used, and the delicacy and detail of the paint work. Very inspiring! I hope to try one of your beautiful patterns sometime!
I love the way you painted your cat mask, Rosemarie, and the hat and stamped designs are very nice touches. Thanks for showing it to us, and for telling us how it was made. The posterboard was a great idea, and it’s good to know that it was strong enough. 🙂
