My “Chinese” dragon

Made by Chrissie MacLean

The overall theme in my house is Oriental. China/Japan/Korea. I wanted to make a dragon. I was also born in the year of the dragon, so I guess it makes sense….

I don’t do anything by halves so this guy is just over 1 meter tall and built around an old floor standing lamp spine. (Not the wires or workings part of the lamp, just the metal spine.

I had countless issues in making him so the fact that he is finished is a testament to my patience??? that or the fact no one else was going to finish him so I had to (I already have a dragon applique half started so …)

He was intended to be mainly red but I couldn’t get the proper colour so he is darker. The light orb, his Chi, has a battery operated chain of fairy lights in it. The claws holding the orb can come out for battery change etc.

His scales are individually cut and shaped cardboard to fit the curve of his body.

Because I had so many issues I was just glad to see the end of it.
