“How the Elephant Got Its Trunk” adapted by Cary Nothnagel from Rudyard Kipling’s Just So Stories.
*Four elephant headdresses- all modified…two adults with no trunk, two juveniles with no tusks and trunks. (One had to be rigged to make it’s trunk “grow” onstage.
* Hippo (modified to be a headdress by attaching the insert from a construction helmet)
* Baboon
* Tiger (modified to be a headdress as indicated above)
* Snake (he began his life as your frog pattern)
* Two birds (half masks)
* Giraffe (modified to be headdress- no plaster, cap insert)
* Camel, ostrich, and alligator (not pictured)
Due to lack of storage space, all student-actors were able to go home with their costume piece. They were thrilled.
Great masks, Suzanne! I think you’re the first one to post masks made for this play. It must have been so much fun for the young actors who participated in it, and I’m really glad they get to take their masks home. They’re too nice to get locked in a storage closet at school. 🙂
