Minotaur

Made by Angela DeMeritt

I had to create a giant Minotaur for a production of Percy Jackson. I blew up the cow pattern, and added features to make it sinister. The finished costume was worn on a harness to elevate it and make the character about 9 feet tall.

The musical for Percy Jackson is called The Lightning Thief. It was a lot of fun. I don’t think the theater company posted a full length video—just a trailer, that doesn’t feature the Minotaur. But here’s a still photo from the play:

I got even more mileage out of the cow pattern making Milky White (with some tweaks) for a production of Into the Woods, and then making 14 cows for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (the ears of corn in foreground). I also made more Lion King heads for a production of Something Rotten (in a musical number that references other musicals). Your patterns are awesome and I have used so many of them; I have lost count of how many paper mache heads I have made, but it has to be around 100, between all of the plays I’ve done.
