Made by Ellen Blackwell
These are Halloween masks my daughter and I made 20 years ago. Almost 40 years ago a friend and I made Disco Mickey and Minnie heads. This year, I am making them again. Products and techniques have really improved the process and options!
I would like to add dimension to the facial features this time. However, I have already applied 2 plaster gauze layers to my balloons. Any suggestions for how I should create the nose, cheeks, chin forms (and attach the finished pieces!)?
Hi Ellen – you could add features by using crumpled foil for noses, lips, eyebrows, cheeks, chins – whatever you like. You can use hot glue to hold the foil features on the plaster, and then cover them either with more plaster gauze or use paper mache over the entire masks. The ones you made before are delightful, but I can’t wait to see your new ones for this year, too! 🙂
Awesome. Thank you. Sounds much easier than I was afraid it might be. ?
I did it! I have some pictures of the v3 Mickey and Minnie masks! Should I upload them separately? Can’t figure out how to add photos in this response.
Hi Ellen. Photos can be uploaded on the Daily Sculptors page – there’s a yellow button at the top that leads to the form. I can’t wait to see how they came out! 🙂
The other option would be to add your photos to your first post, but more people will see it if you start with a new one. 🙂
