Meet My Dog Leroy

Made by Connie Kulow

I just finished Leroy, my bluetick hound dog. He was made by using two plastic liter bottles for the back, four paper towel cardboard rolls for the legs, one and a half cereal boxes for the nose, cheeks, and ears with a lot of grocery bags and masking tape. For the toenails and the tail, foil and masking tape seemed to work good.

Leroy was formed by touch and feel. I used black paint and then brush speckled the rest of his body on top of the paper mache clay. He is about 34 inches tall. This is my second project. My first one was Maddie the horse.

  1. I was touched by Leroy. What a wonderful tribute. You captured an expression that must have come from the heart. Love him. Thanks.

    • Thank you for such a nice comment. My Grandparents used to own blue tick coon dogs on their farm. I really enjoyed creating Leroy and you are right, it did come from the heart.

    • You know, he does have a great personality! For the ears, I used the smooth paper mache, but for the rest of his body I tried to “brush in” the look of fur. I keep saying that I’m going to make something smaller. I’m thinking of making a fox “pup”. Well, I thought Leroy was going to be a puppy lol. I’ll let you know what happens!
