Little red riding hood & the wolf costume

Made by Yochi

We had a costume holiday, and I decided to dress my 2yo as Little Red Riding Hood, and my 10yo to the wolf. My time frame was short, so I thought to keep it simple and just accessorize the wolf, I’m full time job and didn’t have too much time to prepare, trying to shop online wasn’t to my liking, my son refused to dress up if he is going to be a “half wolf”, he wanted the real deal, so we start looking for DIY masks, and were so grateful to find dear Jonni, her mask was real! We started with the base, and almost gave up when it came to the paper mache, I didn’t have all the ingredients/ time since I needed it for the next day. My son suggested to go and buy fur fabric, we bought one yard to cover the mask and the body, we glued the fur straight on the mask base, and after that I gave it some hair cut and used sharpie to create shadows and some art line on the wolf mask. Thank you Jonni for your great helpful video and easy access for the models. Without you it wouldn’t be so satisfying.

Great costume! My son also want’s to look like a real wolf. Could you share what pattern you used for the body?

  1. I am super impressed with what you achieved on a deadline! Just don’t let your son wear his wolf costume outside after Halloween. Someone might mistake him for the real thing!

  2. What a nice job! I bet they had lots of nice comments on their costumes! I have often thought of putting fur on my sculptures as well, and always ended up not doing it. After seeing this, I think I might try something with real fur in the future. 🙂

  4. That is one of the most wonderful time-crunching adventures I’ve heard in a long time. Wonderful costumes. I love creative people. Your son is very lucky. Thanks.
