Fun little colorful creature with chicken wire body covered with paper and masking tape, then paper strips. The ears are finer mesh hardware cloth, tape and paper strips. The legs are plastic tubing. The face detail and feet are epoxy clay. Beard, tail and head hair are painted cardboard. This is my favorite in this series so far. Davee makes me smile!
Yep, those ears! But I love all the purple (that snout!) and blue. I can’t imagine not smiling every time I saw him.
I love all your critters Pat! I think you have such a great happiness to all of them and the ears are always so extra cute to me for some reason. I make the birds for the necks sometimes and maybe you have a thing about adorable ears: like we all somehow have favorite parts to make. The color on this one is great too !
Lee, I do kinda have a thing for the ears! I think ears add so much character!
Thank you Jonni! I really haven’t thought of a story when I’m making them. I just want them to be cheerful. My husband will soon be going thru chemo and radiation treatment and I had anxiety already before the diagnosis so my art is my savior! The good thing is my husband’s cancer is curable but it is going to be a long haul. I am hoping Spring will be a better time. Thank you for your encouragement.
Pat, all the sculptures in this new series are so much fun. Thank you so much for sharing them – they really cheer me up. As soon as I saw Davee’s face it reminded me of a video I recently saw about an easy animation program. Have you ever thought of letting your critters star in an animated video? The program is kind of expensive, but they’ll let us play with it for free. 🙂
