Jumping Through Hoops

Made by J. Ashby

This three-part piece of bears “jumping through hoops” is probably closer to cardboard sculpture than paper mache.

However, I find that a layer of paper mache binds everything together, smoothens any sharp edges, and still allows one to appreciate the underlying geometry of each piece.

Jonni’s use of blue shop towels was something I readily adopted. I really find that it works well for me. I have experimented with various pastes, and currently I prefer a cooked corn starch paste, which I can keep in the fridge for a week or so.
