Thought you all might enjoy our Mardi gras masking. We did the Himalayan Monal mask with paper tape three ways. As a phoenix we attached the mask to a head band so the phoenix could wear her glass, painted it with acrylic paint, and added eyes. For the bald northern Ibis we elongated the original beak and added it on top of the first one then air brushed it with acrylic paint. For the Roseate spoonbill we changed the beak entirely, added a lot of light molding paste, and painted it with acrylics. Added feathers to the last two and fabric flames to the phoenix.

Amy, thank you so much for showing us your Mardi Gras costumes. I love the way you used the basic shape of the pattern to create three totally different birds, and they all turned out so beautifully. And you look like you were having so much fun! 🙂
