Hazelnuts!

Made by Linda Crawford

I have made these to go with my squirrel (which is nearly ready for painting). I don’t yet know if I will have room to use them all but if I don’t, it may be hard to choose which ones to use. The leaves are made from paper clay as are the nut shells and opened nuts. The whole nuts are paper clay over tin foil balls and all have been painted with acrylics. Hope you like them.

  1. The squirrels will be very happy! They look like the ones we had in the park last year. Great. Can’t wait to see that happy squirrel.

    • Thanks Rex. He is already for paint now however the weather here is really damp so I am going to have to wait until it improves as I am going to have to spray paint the tail as a base coat.

  2. Thanks Connie, they were fun to make. Went and had a look at some of your sculptures including Norton! Wow, you have made loads! I have found the tail on my squirrel to be the most challenging, to try and give it that full fluffy look using paper clay, it has been a labour I can tell you, I won’t put labour of love as at times it has been a pain in the neck but hey, lets hope all the hours pay off. I will post a pic pre-paint, see what you think. Thanks for commenting and happy mashing!

  3. Great job in painting! The nuts look very realistic with their texture. I like how you formed the leaves with the jagged edges and brown spots. Looking forward to seeing your squirrel as well. I made one (you can search my name and see it) and I ended up putting Norton in a tree in the dining room. Having the nuts with your squirrel will be perfect!
