Made by Naomi Askey
I started with a steel rod set in a base made from pal tiya clay. I built a wire armature and built up the body in foil and crumpled paper. The body was sculpted using the paverpol rose clay the wings are muslin dipped in liquid paverpol. I coloured the varnish with lilac and silver powders, she has about 5 coats to build colour. I used Dan Reeder’s book for reference.

NOTE from Jonni: If you like dragons, you might also like my new dragon wall sculpture pattern. I also have a new dragon mask pattern that you might like.
Very Cool
Great dragon, Naomi! Thank you so much for showing it to us.
BTW, for anyone interested in what Paverpol is, Naomi sent me this link to a video about the product. We also have a guest tutorial here on the site by our friend Eileen, which you can see here. And I just remembered we were shown Joke’s mother and child sculpture. If anyone else has used this product, we’d love to hear what you think of it. 🙂
