Fantasy Lizard

Made by Rutger Huisman

Hello fellow enthusiasts! I made this lizard with the paper mache recipe. It is 44 cm long (without the tail), 26 cm high and 23 cm width. I also used lots of tin foil, plastic tubes cardboard and hot glue of course.
The toes i made with braided iron wire, then tin foil and at last paper mache.
I made the skin pattern with a knive when te clay was still flexible. First i painted it white, then green. Then is used a diluted black which i immediately wipe off with a paper towel. Then i dry brushed it with yellow paint and on top 2 layers of varnish.

  1. I love this lizard. He has a such personality. I love the texture, paint techniques and those gnarly toenails are so great.

  2. The toes are great! I’ll have to try that next time. I also love the skin texture, it looks like it must have taken a while.

    • Thx! The toes are realy strong. I made the tongue with the same technique so it could stay very thin.
You can feel the structure of the skin. It looks better in real then the photo shows.
