Easy Easter Egg Topiary

Made by Isis Vandelannote

Hi!

I haven’t really had the time to sculpt something for almost 2 years now, but I finally found the time to create something again. I recently saw a DIY egg topiary-project with huge plastic eggs. It didn’t take me long to figure out that huge paper mache eggs should work just as well. The eggs are made using large balloons, covered with paper stripes and paste. Step two was to paint them. They are held in place by a large plant “support stick” in the middle of them. The last step was to decorate my egg topiary. Hope you like it!

  1. Hi Isis – it’s good to hear from you again. Your topiary is really nice, but tell us – how did you get the eggs so smooth? When I try paper strips and paste over balloons I get either cracks or wrinkles. What’s your secret? 🙂

    • Ah, I forget to tell. I did about 4 layers of paper stripes and paste. But after it had dried, I found that the eggs were not strong enough. So I covered them up with some plaster bandages. That also helped to smooth the surfaces.
