Created in 2020 after seeing some of Jonni’s amazing sculptures. I used the techniques I learned about for creating a musculature and paper clay sculpt. This project was kind of on a whim after seeing just a couple of her videos and wanting to create something myself.
It sits on a plaque to hang on the wall to resemble a trophy kill. The armature includes a wooden 2×4 because the whole thing is heavy and sticks out significantly from the plaque.
I painted it and coated it in several layers of spray-on lacquer both to give it a sheen and to keep the paint from coming off.
Abigail, your dragon is going to look fabulous on your wall. And the addition of a 2×4 was a very good idea. I assume it was screwed or bolted to the plaque – is that right? How big is your finished dragon?
