This is my third paper mache sculpture. My previous ones I’d done using Jonni’s patterns in her awesome paper mache book. This is my first try at making my own pattern.
I used cardboard for the pattern pieces, then padded the piece with newspaper and masking tape.
I used the flour/water paste for the first few layers, then switched to a glue/water mix so that the finished product would be clear, as I like the look of the newspaper being visible in the finished piece.
I used dark parts of the paper for ears, nose etc. A magazine page was used for the collar.
It was quite fun! Many thanks to Jonni for sharing fantastic tips and new ideas.

Great form with action, and the choice of finishing with the newspaper, along with the magazine collar, is both unique and perfect for this guy.
