Made by Heather Endicott
These giraffe costumes are designed to bring height, humor, and heart to our Lion King JR. production! Lightweight and budget-friendly! Full disclosure…I’m not naturally an artist (sewing yes…sculpting and painting, not so much). This was my first attempt.
I’m a volunteer who loves making costumes for our school’s musical productions! Purely a hobby:)
- BASE: cardstock paper and packing tape
- 1ST LAYERS (PAPER MACHE): Mod Podge and newspaper strips (2-3 layers)
- 2ND LAYER (CLAY/SCULPT): Moldable Cosplay Foam Clay
- 3rd LAYER (PROTECTIVE): Worbla Cosplay Supplies Flexbond Primer
- 4th LAYER (PAINT) : I just used what acrylic paints I had laying around and Sharpie Acrylic round and brush pens for detail
- 5th LAYER (SEAL): Mod Podge
Wow! They’re beautiful, Heather-I think you might need to start calling yourself a “natural artist” from now on. 🙂 I love the way you painted the giraffe heads, and the fur on the ossicones was a great touch.
