My sister hosts pre-school for four of her grandchildren and one other. One of their lessons was on “Where animals spend winter.” When I visited her and saw what a wonderful cardboard feature she had put together, we decided to convert it into paper mache. This is it so far. The tree is for birds and owls, the den for a bear, two holes in front for snakes and squirrels, and a log for other critters. We hope to get it painted soon, but the larger plan is to decorate it for every season — spring, summer, fall, and winter (plus holidays).
