Dandy Lion

Made by Ben Garcia

I had such a fun time creating this mask for my Halloween costume. I ended up using a Bristol brush on the raffia to give it the effect of softer hair. Thank you, thank you!

Supplies used:

  • pattern printed on 80lb card stock
  • Masking tape
  • Wood glue
  • Brown craft paper
  • Acrylic paint
  • Eye shadow for texture/shading
  • Bristol brush
  • Hot glue
  • And a little prayer that it work 🙂

    • This is the actual raffia I used

      Darice 1166-98 Raffia Table…

      – lay the raffia on a hard surface(kitchen counter) work with a handful amount- and brush towards you with this type of brush.

  3. Wow! What a beautiful work of art. I sure hope it gets a permanent home, because it’s way too beautiful for just one party.
And thanks for the tip about using the brush to make the raffia more like fur. Now I’ll have to think up another project that we can use raffia for. 🙂
