I have a couple of friends who do a massive Halloween display every year. They expressed a desire for a caveman, and without thinking, I blurted out that I could make them one. Loose lips sink ships! My mother and I( who was 86), tackled the project together. We used scraps from around the farm, and made it with paper mache. I think it costs us about $50 to make. Unfortunately it was not weatherproof and turned moldy, and some mice moved into the legs. I threw it away as unsalvageable, and promised my friends to replace it.
I found your clay recipe, and used that as a foundation to build upon. I don’t think I got the recipe quite right, but it did dry quite hard. This project took me two months to complete, but I am pleased with the result. It is supposed to look like a comic book caveman, because I wanted it to be kid friendly. I did this last one by myself , because my mother had passed away a few years ago. It was a challenge, but I enjoyed doing it. He is 6 1/2 feet tall.
