This a Quoll [tasmanian native cat] I used calcium carbonate to cover the paper mach’e. The mixture is Elmer’s glue + water & C,C. make the mixture as thick or thin as you like BUT you will need to coat it several times. I use acrylic paints & clear paint spray on top…It is very hard & brittle & will break if you drop it. I added a small figurine that I make now, with tissue paper, the CC mix is the only finish you can use as it paints on.

I have never used calcium carbonate but it sure looks good on what you’ve made. I am impressed. I’ll have to check it out.
I hate to sound ignorant ,but I would like to know more about calcium carbonate and its use ,such as WHY it is used to paint over paper mache. What is its function? Thanks . Wayne
