Made by Jon Keller
I started my project by making a paper mache skull , like the kind of skull that you might find in a southwestern desert . The horns were made by taking a styrofoam floral wreath ( the green kind ) , cutting it in half , shaping each piece and then covering them with paper mache . The teeth were mad with acrylic polymer clay . Instead of painting it , once it was dry , I coated it with beeswax . Then I created a pattern by embedding glass seed beads into the beeswax. When the design was finished I coated the entire project with acrylic resin ( to hold the beads in place permanently ). I also placed a brass ring through the nose ( the ring came from an old purse ).
Wow, that bead work must have been time consuming but well worth it. Good job!
love!!!
I like the beadwork!
Fantastic! It reminds me of Huichol art.
