As a family we are owned by a basset, Elmo and a Shih Tzu, Mo Chou. Now our daughter no longer lives at home she misses seeing them everyday. Using Jonni’s method to make a pattern and pad out the body, I then used paper machè (Jonni’s recipe, of flour and water) and sculpted into shape. I used about 3 layers on the body. For the faces I used polymer clay to shape the brow bone and nose and also paws. For Elmo’s wrinkles I added paper towels and for Mo’s coat I used a thin (more liquid) version of paper machè clay so it dripped slightly, giving the look of fluffy fur! I gesso’d all over and then used acrylics to paint the details. I sealed with a polyurethane varnish. Daughter loved them!
Oh these are so cute! You’ve captured their personality and the Shih Tzu’s tail almost looks like it is wagging. Great job! Congrats!
Thank you so much!
