Here is Michael in colour. I found him quite tricky to do, especially choosing the serpent colour, but am very pleased with the final colours. He is painted in Acrylics and then a coat of PVA to seal. The metallics are from the DecoArt Dazzling Metallics range. They are the best metallic acrylics I have used to date.
It has been a long and arduous process from starting to model to finishing the paintwork, but oh, so worth it!
I don’t usually colour my sculptures, apart from bronzing, but the archangels demanded it.
I need a rest now.
Thank You Jonni.
I can never take a long break. I’d go mad if I couldn’t create for long. In actual fact, I am itching to get cracking on the next project, so a tidy-up and a relaxing weekend and then on to the next thing! It will be a statue of a Grail Maiden/ Mary Magdalene modelled in clay and cast in plaster, more old-style. Or that’s the plan. It could take me off in another direction! ๐
You done good! I am sure picking colors is a tricky business, especially for a sculpture like this, but I love what you have done. It’s brave and outside the box, perfect for an archangel. Thanks.
So glad you like him Rex. Thankyou for your lovely comments.
Oh! I found a criticism! The background ought to be a famous Greek hall or something like that! Rocky mountains, cliffs. You get the idea. (A silly old man!) Thanks, again.
You’re right Rex. I think the rocky mountains and cliffs. Wild and dangerous with dark, threatening skies! Winds howling. I might have to paint a backdrop now! ๐
I love both Michael and the serpent. Well done, Sarah. And yes, take a break – but not too long. I can’t wait to see what you make next. ๐
