My original plan was to make a quick and very basic Halloween pumpkin using a balloon and traditional PM. But after doing that I looked at some vintage pictures and decided it would be fun to recess the eyes and mouth. Turns out that the extra weight from the cardboard made it tip over so I screwed it on to a wooden base. After that I thought the paint wasn’t doing the trick so I added colored tissue. And then, it just seemed off-balance so I decided to add a rat – which, naturally, led to a crow. At least I still got it finished in plenty of time for the holiday. The eyes are wooden craft buttons.
I made a pillar with crunched aluminum foil and then glued the wood buttons to the top of it. I wish I had left the eye and mouth slots open and added a battery operated tea light for illumination.
That’s a great Halloween sculpture, Joanne. The eyes are really interesting – are they buttons? They look like they’re floating. 🙂
