My son wanted a shark-themed float for his Mardi Gras parade at school. The shark mask template was A WONDERFUL tool to have when we started this project!
I blew up Jonni’s magnificent template 220% of it’s standard size (gotta love math!) to get the size shark I needed, and improvised to complete the remainder of his neck, body fins and tail. The template was printed on thick photo paper (printed at my local WalGreens), and assembled with masking tape and some aluminum foil in some areas for extra support.
We used Titebond woodglue and a little water for our paper mache process, and added in some details (gills, eye sockets) with joint compound sculpting. Needless to say, this shark ride was a hit! We had so much fun making him!
Well done, Allison – your son’s shark float is amazing! If I’d seen it here in our town, I would have begged you for a chance to ride in it. 🙂
