Alpaca “Wool” and Easy Holiday Sale Ideas

Weekly Newsletter from UltimatePaperMache.com

Hi Everyone,

I’ve been busy this week, adding paper mache clay to Kneesaa, the alpaca, but I’m also starting to think about Christmas. That’s because I got an email yesterday from someone who’s looking for small projects they could make make for a holiday sale.

Let’s start with that Alpaca…

Paper Mache Clay Wool…

I used a much thicker layer of paper mache clay on the alpaca than I usually do, so it will be interesting to see how long she takes to dry. I can’t wait to see how she looks after she’s painted! You can see how I added the paper mache clay here.

I answered a lot of frequently asked questions about paper mache clay in that post, too. If you have a question that I forgot to include, please let me know. ๐Ÿ™‚

And now, let’s look at a few easy projects that might work well at a holiday sale. They probably can’t be made fast enough to make anyone rich, but they would be fun to see lined up on a display table. ๐Ÿ™‚

Paper Mache Mouse

The little mouse and the folk art bunny look really cute together, because they’re both sitting up on little wooden “bun feet,” and they’re easy to make.

The other project that would go well with them is the tiny owl. She has a wooden base, too, but it takes a little longer to make it.

Tiny colorful owls, and an adorable cat

I found these little owls on YouTube. They would be easy to make with some air dry clay over crumpled foil. The real artistry is in the painting, and every one would be different.

This phone-guarding cat is another easy project that could be made with foil and the air dry clay. It’s not just adorable – it’s useful, too. I don’t actually need a phone holder, but I might still be tempted if I saw it at a street fair. The shapes are fairly simple, so you could have a lot of fun painting it.

I’m still working on that ram mask ...

The pattern is finished – it’s just a matter of putting the instructions together, which will probably take another week or two. But that’s OK, because the alpaca’s paper mache clay is so thick that it’s going to take a long time to dry. I haven’t decided what I’ll make after the ram is finished, but it might be a rhino mask. I’ve also received several requests for a donkey, so I might have to flip a coin. ๐Ÿ™‚

If you try any of the projects I mentioned in the newsletter, be sure to show them off on the Daily Sculptors page – we’d all love to see how they come out. And if you have some ideas for easy project that would go together fast (and sell even faster at a holiday sale) please let us know. ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a wonderful weekend!
